Key features

 The workshop incorporates the following key feature

  • Case studies: One river case study in Blumenau and one coastal case study in Itajaí will be conducted to understand the environment and dynamics of water resources and to address the problems faced by low income and vulnerable population of Blumenau and Itajaí. The early career researchers (ECR) will involve interactively to determine the vulnerabilities, risks, impacts and existing capacity level and to establish measures to improve social-ecological resilience.
  • Keynote sessions: Keynote presentations by leading academics on the subject area and case studies
  • Guest lectures: Guest lectures from local authority to educate the disasters in local context
  • ECR Presentations: Poster presentations on the current and emerging research by the early career researchers
  • Book of Abstracts: Collection of abstracts submitted to the workshop will be published
  • Career development: A panel discussion on career development addressing profile building, academic writing and research funding opportunities
  • Networking: Interactive group work activities to facilitate leadership, communication, team working, time management, knowledge sharing, confidence building and problem solving skills. A cultural night will be organised to encourage networking and to learn and understand each other’s culture
  • Sustainable partnership: provides greater opportunity for the participants to do joint publications and future collaborations
  • Online post-doctoral sessions: online workshops will be organised via Blackboard collaborate 6 months after completing the workshop
